FTSEurofirst 300 index advanced 1.6% or 17.3 points to 1,076.7.
DJIA edged up 1.2%, to settle at 12,862.2, while the NASDAQ advanced 1.6%, to close at 2,905.7. S&P 500 gained 1.5%, to settle at 1,344.9.
Nikkei 225 index is trading 1.1% higher, at 8,928.5.
In Asia, crude oil for March delivery is trading 0.5% or $0.45 lower at $97.39 per barrel.
At 0400 BST today, the GBP is trading 0.2% lower against the USD at $1.5781, 0.2% higher against the EUR at €1.2053, and marginally higher against the JPY at ¥121.09.
