Editor’s comment: We have now added a selection of video guides on GFT, please see – http://www.cleanfinancial.com/gft_markets.php#vid… – The videos cover three of the platforms; DealBook Web, DealBook 360 and DealBook Mobile (iPad).

Editor's comment: Not tried their customer service yet, but the forex spreads are tight e.g. see http://www.cleanfinancial.com/forex_spread_bettin… and they have a good range of markets, i.e. 3200+ markets. Not as many as IG or City Index but more that most firms list on this site.

I got sucked in by a bland report – don't expect anything from the banal GFT '10 things' reports. Having said that, the spreads on their fx markets are tight and reliable so at least they get the important things right. I'd still like the 5 minutes I wasted reading the report back though.

Editor's comment: Hi Ben, I'm surprised it took anyone 5 minutes to read one of their guides.

Out of interest Mr Punter, how much is 'decent money', not trying to judge you, just trying to see how much you need to make before that close your account?

Editor's comment: Sorry, this is a bit of an old story they we're adding to our GFT review page… just in case there are any people still looking for a GFT account.

The GFT Markets brand has merged into the City Index brand.

A merger like this is always tricky though.

You are asking clients who are used to one platform to move to another, none of us like being given a new platform to learn, iTunes please take note!… anyway, while the City Index platform is fairly straightforward it is still quite different to the GFT platform.

More important for many clients will be the fact that GFT always had tighter spreads than City Index, particular on with their FX markets… I can't imagine old GFT customers were happy about getting worse spreads.

The City Index spreads aren't a disaster these days, it's just that GFT were much tighter e.g. EUR/USD was 0.6pt and GBP/USD was 0.8pt with GFT. That doesn't compare well with 1pt and 1.5pts respectively on the City platform.
