Editor's comment: Anyone with the Financial Spreads account can now get Director Deals data on UK shares. For more details see http://www.cleanfinancial.com/director_deals.php (yes, access is free if you have an account).
Started spread betting on this account and have burnt through a few accounts with other firms. although I imagine that's down to luck and where I placed my trades rather than which site. intertrader are on the same platform which is handy if you want two accounts and not having to learn a new platform. Decent platform and good spreads until you get to the small forex markets. About time they got an iphone app though.
Hi Ben
Agreed. I recently gave Financial Spreads customer service a call about this. Both android and iphone apps are being developed. They couldn't give an ETA though. Watch this space.

Editor’s comment: We have now added the Financial Spreads prices for some of their most popular markets, please see http://www.cleanfinancial.com/financial_spreads.p….
Note that these prices are the same for their spread betting and CFD markets.
Editor's comment: If you have a Financial Spreads account can now get Broker Recommendations on UK shares. For more details see http://www.cleanfinancial.com/broker_recommendati…. (like the Director Deals reports, it's free if you have an account).
Editor's comment: And Financial Spreads have upgraded their site on schedule.
Given how often website updates fall behind schedule, I always think it's a mistake for a company to tell users in advance that they are upgrading their site on a specific date.
Having said that, well done for doing a big upgrade on time. CMC also upgraded their site a few weeks ago and similarly gave their users advanced notice of the date. Perhaps the spread firms are so super organised that, unlike the CleanFinancial IT dept, their updates don't slip.
The new Financial Spreads site? They say it's quick to trade, find markets and that there are lots of account improvements. I'll wait to test it until we have a busy day in the markets and give some feedback then.
It’s the first day of Royal Mail trading and Financial Spreads have now added both a spread betting and CFD market (joining ETX, IG and Capital Spreads).
Finally a few more firms offer a daily silver market.
Before it was just CMC who offered a daily market, now both Financial Spreads and Capital Spreads offer rolling daily silver markets (as well as their Silver futures market).
Nice to see Financial Spreads are now offering a Nonfarm Payrolls spread betting market – http://www.cleanfinancial.com/guide_to_the_nfp_sp…
And they have finally chopped the 30pt spread on the Nonfarms market to a 10pt spread. 5pts for next month?

Editor's comment: Finally, they have mobile apps… how long did that take?
Also, how good are the new Financial Spreads Apple and Android apps? They look very similar to each other. And they are nice and simple which is what I want. The charts are a bit slow but then I find all the charts too slow on my old iPhone 4s.
The android app works well on my Samsung tablet. And I've had no issues getting a trade on / closing an old trade with either app.
Main criticism albeit it pretty minor, you can't create watchlists…when I'm on a train…that's one of the few times I get to mess around with the watchlists.
I am not sure if it was worth the extra-long wait but if you want a nice and simple app then it's worth taking a look at these.

Editor's comment: So as well as new mobile apps, Financial Spreads have switched to a new platform. I like the fact that you don't have to re-learn everything.
It looks similar to the old platform and much of the functionality is the same. To improve it they have finally got rid of the layout that seemed to randomly move around every time you logged on. It also works far better on smaller screen sizes.
And they have also removed annoying/poor quality news feed.
So a big improvement with regards to simplicity and usability. There aren't many platforms that are this easy to use.
And, they've tightened up the spreads, e.g. just 0.7pts on EUR/USD and 0.8pts on the FTSE 100 (UK 100).
So far so good. The downside? The charts…they are OK but they feel like a step backwards from the old charts. Slightly more fiddly and the back-testing function is no longer there.
Payments-wise, there's no Skrill but I'm told that will be in place soon.
Overall, a solid improvement and if they fix the chart issues then it could be a really good user-friendly platform.

Editor's comment: And Financial Spreads is back
The new Financial Spreads website is running.
Hopefully that's good news for traders who want a straightforward trading experience (they say they have “updated their platform but kept the user-friendly side of it”).
I say “hopefully”. Like Dr. House, I believe there's a difference in what people say (and what their Marketing Dept says) and what they do.
We will test/trade on the new platform, and mobile apps, and report back.
And if you're looking for more news on where Financial Spreads have been, there's an update here: http://www.financemagnates.com/forex/brokers/excl…
