UK Share Trading
FTSE 100 shed 0.3%, to close at 5,928.2.
Miners, Vedanta Resources surged 7.0%, amid reports that the company might merge its iron ore firm Sesa Goa with copper and aluminium maker Sterlite Industries.
Anglo American and Kazakhmys rallied 1.0% and 1.4%, respectively, in line with a rise in base metal prices.
Admiral climbed 3.2%, after Credit Suisse Group upgraded the stock to “Outperform” from “Neutral”.
ICAP gained 1.6%, after the company announced that it would buy Singapore-based Island Shipbrokers Pte to expand its business in Asia.
Energy stocks, Petrofac, Royal Dutch Shell-A and Royal Dutch Shell-B added between 0.7% and 0.8%, tracking higher crude oil prices.
Evraz fell 4.6%, after Alfa Bank advised taking profits on the stock to its clients, citing concern about a decline in home sales in China.
Tullow Oil retreated 3.6%, amid speculation that the production from company’s Jupiter well, off the coast of Sierra Leone, would be below market expectations.
