How to Spread Bet on Tenet Healthcare

How to Spread Bet on Tenet Healthcare?

If you are going to speculate on firms such as Tenet Healthcare then one option could be to place a spread bet on the Tenet Healthcare share price.

Looking at a financial spread betting website like Tradefair, you can see they are currently showing the Tenet Healthcare Rolling Daily market at $39.19 - $39.24. Therefore, an investor can spread bet on the Tenet Healthcare share price:

Tenet Healthcare Trading Example Increasing higher than $39.24, or
Tenet Healthcare Spread Trading Example Decreasing lower than $39.19

When financial spread betting on S&P 500 equities you trade in £x per cent. So, if you choose to invest £4 per cent and the Tenet Healthcare share price changes by $0.32 then there would be a difference to your profit/loss of £128. £4 per cent x $0.32 = £128.

Note that you are also able to trade this market in Euros or Dollars, e.g. €x per cent.

Rolling Daily Equities Markets

It is important to note that this is a Rolling Daily Market and so there is no predetermined settlement date for this market. Therefore, if you decide not to close your trade by the end of the day, it will simply roll over to the next session.

If a trade is rolled over and you are speculating on the market to:

Tenet Healthcare Spread Trading Example Rise - then you will often be charged a small financing fee, or
Tenet Healthcare Spread Trading Example Fall - then a small payment is normally credited to your account

For a more detailed breakdown of Rolling Daily Markets please read our article Rolling Daily Spread Betting.

Tenet Healthcare Rolling Daily - US Shares Spread Trading Example

Now, if we take the above spread of $39.19 - $39.24 and assume that:
  • You have analysed the shares, and
  • Your analysis suggests the Tenet Healthcare share price is likely to move above $39.24
Then you might decide that you are going to buy at $39.24 and invest £4 per cent.

So, you make a profit of £4 for every cent that the Tenet Healthcare shares go higher than $39.24. Having said that, such a bet also means that you will lose £4 for every cent that the Tenet Healthcare market goes lower than $39.24.

Considering this from another angle, if you buy a spread bet then your profit/loss is worked out by taking the difference between the final price of the market and the price you bought the spread at. You then multiply that price difference by the stake.

As a result, if after a few hours the stock started to move upwards then you could choose to close your position so that you can secure your profit. Taking this a step further, if the market did go up then the spread, set by the spread trading firm, might move up to $39.53 - $39.58. You would close your spread bet by selling at $39.53. So, with the same £4 stake your profit would be:

Your profits (or losses) = (Settlement Price - Initial Price) x stake
Your profits (or losses) = ($39.53 - $39.24) x £4 per cent stake
Your profits (or losses) = $0.29 x £4 per cent stake
Your profits (or losses) = 29¢ x £4 per cent stake
Your profits (or losses) = £116 profit

Speculating on equities, whether by spread trading or otherwise, is not always straightforward. In this case, you had bet that the share price would go up. Nevertheless, it can also fall.

If the Tenet Healthcare share price began to drop then you could choose to close your trade in order to limit your losses.

If the market fell to $38.91 - $38.96 you would settle/close your trade by selling at $38.91. Therefore, you would make a loss of:

Your profits (or losses) = (Settlement Price - Initial Price) x stake
Your profits (or losses) = ($38.91 - $39.24) x £4 per cent stake
Your profits (or losses) = -$0.33 x £4 per cent stake
Your profits (or losses) = -33¢ x £4 per cent stake
Your profits (or losses) = -£132 loss
