UK Spread Betting – More Advantages:

  • Spread bets can be closed early. This can work in two ways. You can close a profitable trade in order to guarantee a profit. Conversely, you can also close a losing position in order to stop any further losses.

  • When you spread bet you do not transfer ownership of any rights, assets or stock. This means you can place trades quickly. Unless you are making very large trades, your order is normally filled instantly.

  • Because you are trading directly with a spread betting company there are no broker's fees.

  • As mentioned, investing does have its risks but there are a few steps you can take to reduce your level of risk. Adding a Guaranteed Stop Loss to your trade helps reduce your risks. If you start losing money on a particular spread bet and the market continues to move in the wrong direction but hits your Stop Loss then your spread bet will be closed. This means that whilst you will have lost money, you won't lose any further funds even if the market continues to move against your original trade. I can recall a number of times when Stop Loss orders have usefully restricted my losses as the markets have moved in the wrong direction.

  • Spread betting companies are increasingly offering a wealth of trading data to their clients. Naturally, you can get live prices and candlestick charts but you can also get Technical Analysis, Events Calendar, Company Specific Data and Market Heat Maps.

Risk Warning: Spread betting and CFD trading carry a high level of risk to your capital and you may lose more than your initial investment. Spread betting and CFD trading may not be suitable for all investors. Only speculate with money that you can afford to lose. Please ensure you fully understand the risks involved and seek independent financial advice where necessary.
