Rugby Time of First Try - Sports Spread Betting
A popular rugby bet is the time that the first try will be scored. You don’t have to pick the exact minute. The Bookie offers a ‘spread’ of times, if you think there will be an early try then you would probably bet low (Sell), if you think there won’t be a try for a long time then you would Buy the Time of the First Try. Eg
For a World Cup game between England and Samoa, sports spread betting bookmakers might predict the first match try (by either side) would be scored after 18 to 21 minutes.
If you thought it was going to be a tight game dominated by big defences you might bet high at 21 minutes for let’s say £5 per minute.
If you were right and England only managed to break through the Samoan defence in the 27th minute then you would have won 6 times your stake:
(27 - 21) x your stake = 6 minutes x £5 per minutes = £30
However if you had sold the market at 18 minutes for the same stake, you would have lost 9 times your stake:
(18 - 27) x your stake = -9 minutes x £5 per minutes = -£45
If there are no tries in a game then the result (make up) is 80 minutes.

Rugby Bet - Shirt Numbers - Sports Spread Betting
Another popular market. The bookies try to predict the aggregate number of the try scorers’ shirt numbers in a game. Eg if numbers 9, 11 and 14 all score a try, the total would be 34.
Example
A match between England and France might look like it could be a relatively attacking game with plenty of tries. Therefore there might be a Total Shirt Numbers spread of 64 – 68 points.
If you expected an open game you would bet high at 68 for the stake of your choice, eg £5 per point.
If England had beaten France 53 - 14 with seven tries scored, the shirt numbers might have added up to 75.
As a result you would have made 7 times your stake.
(75 - 68) x your stake = 7 x £5 = £35
If you had Sold the market at 64 points for £4 per point, you would have lost 11 times your stake:
(64 – 75) x your stake = -11 x £4 = -£44
