Rugby Spread Betting: 29-May-08

Two of the biggest rivals in English rugby meet at Twickenham on Saturday for the Guinness Premiership Championship Final. Sporting Index can’t split them at present so buyers of either side’s supremacy at 1 point will be hoping for any kind of victory.

That means you can bet on:
  1. Wasps to win by more than one point
  2. Leicester to win by more than one point
The last time these two sides met in the Final (2005) Wasps registered their third consecutive Zurich trophy with a 39-14 win. However, the Tigers have been in all of the last three finals, losing the first two against Wasps and Sale Sharks, but trouncing Gloucester 44-16 last year.

These two sides have met three times this season, with Leicester holding the slight edge of two wins to one. However, all three games have been very tight and the winning margin has been no bigger than 10 in all three games. As always with these big games, tactics are often based around the weather conditions and buyers of total points at 46 will be pleased to hear that the Tigers last four Premiership games have averaged 52.25 points. Wasps have averaged 50.25. This is further boosted by the last three finals averaging a total of 59.3 points. However, sellers at 43 will be hoping to see a final similar to 2004 when Wasps beat Bath 10-6. In fact, the average points total for the three finals prior to 2005 was 36.3.

Where to Spread Bet on Rugby?

Rugby Spread Betting: 15-Oct-07

Everyone's discussed England's poor form and their miraculous turnaround since the South Africa pool stage game...so there’s not much left for us to say. However you might like a final look at the prices (or at least the prices how they are at the moment).

Sporting Index have put the supremacy spread at South Africa to beat England by 7 to 10 points, ie you can bet on:
  • South Africa to beat England by more than 10 points, or
  • South Africa to beat England by less than 7 points, or a draw or an England win
How much you win, depends upon how right or wrong you are.

Also, despite losing to Argentina in the opening match Sporting Index make France favourites to take third place.

Rugby World Cup Winner Index

How to Spread Bet on the Rugby World Cup.

Rugby Spread Betting: 17-Sep-07

Argentina fourth favourites? Looking at a quick update of the Sporting Index Rugby World Cup markets it looks that way. Not surprisingly, the 3 Tri-Nations countries are at the top of the table and the South American team are sitting behind them in the sports spread betting markets.

The biggest losers over the first 2 weekends were France who look like they could be playing New Zealand in the quarters finals (if they make it out of their Pool). When the World Cup started they were priced at 57-60. The home team are now priced at 36-39 points.

Anyone backing South Africa before the tournament when the spread was 56-59 could close out for a handy 17 point profit. Sporting Index currently have the Boks at 76 to 79.
