- Royal Dutch Shell – Co. may face delays in drilling off Alaska after a presidential panel investigating BP’s oil spill said more research is needed on risks to Arctic wildlife. (Sources)
- Sainsbury – Co.’s Q3 comparative sales ex-fuel, including VAT rose 3.6% vs. Exp. 3.1%, and co. said it is well placed to make continued good progress in 2011. (Sources)
- Companies paying Dividend: 3i Group (£0.0120) Companies going Ex-Dividend: Lonmin ($0.1500), British Land (£0.0650)

US Share Trading News

- Equities finished higher as concerns on European sovereign debt relaxed, in addition better than anticipated earnings from Lennar (+7.09%) aided risk appetite. It is worth noting stocks opened higher following yesterday’s kick-off to earnings season by Alcoa (-0.97%), which missed on revenues, however beat on EPS.
In terms of sectors, oil & gas and basic materials lead the S&P 500, whilst consumer goods and telecoms were the only laggards. Apollo (+13.5%) alongside Lennar led the S&P 500, on the flip side, SuperValu (-11.6%) and AMD (-9.03%) are the main laggards in the index after a miss on earnings and a weaker forecast, and the chip giant’s CEO departure.
At the closing bell the DJIA closed up 0.30% at 11671.81, the S&P 500 closed up 0.37% at 1274.47 and the NASDAQ 100 closed up 0.19% at 2288.73.
- S&P 500 Index - Goldman Sachs says the index will end this year at 1,500. (RTRS)
- JPMorgan Chase – Co. could pay an annual dividend of $0.75 to $1.00 once the Federal Reserve completes stress tests of the largest US banks and gives its approval, according to Co.’s CEO. (RTRS)
- Goldman Sachs will come in for harsh criticism from an influential US Senate report into the financial crisis that will highlight alleged conflicts of interests in the bank’s dealings with clients, according to people familiar with the matter. (FT - More/ Sources)
- AIG – Co. could announce as early as today the sale of its Taiwan Nan Shan Life unit to conglomerate Ruentex Group for up to $2.5bn, according to Taiwan newspapers. (RTRS)

- Sanofi – Co.’s CEO said co. will see whether to raise its takeover offer for Genzyme. (CNBC) In other news, co. sees H1 2011 FDA approval for Allegra to OTC. (Sources)
- EADS - Airbus says India's Indigo agrees to buy 180 A320s, including 150 of upgraded Neo version, says agreement worth $15.6bn at list prices and Indigo deal is biggest single large jetliner order in commercial aviation history. (RTRS)
- Renault – Co. is set to launch legal proceedings regarding alleged industrial espionage related to its electric vehicle programme. (RTRS)
- Bayer – Co. is not expected to make large acquisitions. (Der Tagesspiegel)
- German Banks – Germany’s biggest banks may be taxed at a higher rate than expected under the country’s levy for financial institutions that is scheduled to come into force this year. (FT - More)
- Santander - Co. weighs withdrawal of UK government bonus talks. In other news, Co. plans to sell a 1.91% stake in its Chilean division, in which it currently holds 76.91%. (Sources/ Cinco Dias)
