Paddypowertrader is holding a free seminar entitled 'Oil - holding the world to ransom?' on July 19th at the Radisson SAS St Helens in Stillorgan, Dublin 4.
The key topic debated will be “the role of oil on the world markets and its effect on the global economy”
The event is designed to stimulate discussion on the future of oil for retail investors. The sharp rise in the price of crude oil by over 60% in the past six months has affected many stakeholders in Ireland including Irish spread bettors.
Speaking at the event and for the very first time in Ireland will be Bill Hubard, a former Bloomberg and CNBC market commentator. Hubard is also chief economist at Swiss Investment Group MIG Investments. Bill Hubard has a different take on trading in oil under these unique market conditions, and the effects of high crude oil prices on other commodities, which should enthral Irish audiences.
Also part of the economic heavy weight line-up will be Dave Horgan, managing director of Petrel Resources, an Irish oil producer currently working on exploration and production of oil in some of the world’s most dangerous countries. Horgan will speak about the issues of geopolitical stability and the role of production difficulties on oil supply.
“What is certain is the impact the price of oil is having. Energy, transport and fertiliser costs are soaring, pushing inflation up. Interest rates look set to rise, and may do so at a time when the Global economy seems least able to cope. The question on people's lips is no longer 'are we heading into a recession' but 'how deep will this recession be?' said Peter O’ Donovan, Head of Financial Spread Betting, Paddy Power.
