Now, if you consider the spread of $7.03 - $7.07 and make the assumptions that:
- you have analysed the markets, and
- it leads you to feel that the Nektar Therapeutics share price is likely to go higher than $7.07

Speculating on equities, by spread betting or otherwise, can go against you. In this case, you wanted the share price to rise. However, it can also go down.
If the Nektar Therapeutics shares had fallen then you might choose to close your trade in order to restrict your losses.
If the market dropped to $6.89 - $6.93 you would settle your position by selling at $6.89. This would result in a loss of:
P&L = (Closing Level - Opening Level) x stake
