How to Spread Bet on German Shares - Muench Rueck Rolling Daily
If you are looking to invest in firms such as Muench Rueck then one possibility could be spread trading on the Muench Rueck share price.
Looking at the Paddy Power website, they are showing the Muench Rueck Rolling Daily market at €112.63 - €112.92. This means you could spread bet on the Muench Rueck shares:
- Increasing higher than €112.92, or
- Decreasing lower than €112.63
Whilst placing a spread bet on German shares you trade in £x per cent. So, should you decide to invest £2 per cent and the Muench Rueck share price changes by €0.05 then that would make a difference to your profits (or losses) of £10. £2 per cent x €0.05 = £10.

Rolling Daily Shares Markets
It is important to note that this is a Rolling Daily Market and so in contrast with futures markets, there is no settlement date. If your trade is open at the end of the day, it just rolls over into the next session.
If your spread bet is rolled over and you are speculating that the market will:
- Move up - then you will normally be charged a small financing fee, or
- Move down - then you will usually receive a small credit to your account

Muench Rueck Rolling Daily - German Shares Spread Betting Example
So, if you consider the spread of €112.63 - €112.92 and make the assumptions that:
- you have done your market research, and
- you feel that the Muench Rueck share price will go above €112.92
then you could decide to buy a spread bet at €112.92 and invest, for the sake of argument, £1 per cent.
With such a spread bet you win £1 for every cent that the Muench Rueck shares push higher than €112.92. Nevertheless, such a bet also means that you will make a loss of £1 for every cent that the Muench Rueck market moves below €112.92.
Considering this from another angle, if you were to ‘Buy’ a spread bet then your P&L is found by taking the difference between the closing price of the market and the initial price you bought the market at. You then multiply that difference in price by your stake.
As a result, if the stock started to increase then you might think about closing your spread bet and therefore lock in your profits.
Taking this a step further, if the market rose then the spread could change to €114.50 - €114.79. In order to close/settle your position you would sell at €114.50. So, with the same £1 stake your profit would come to:
Profit = (Final Price - Initial Price) x stake
Profit = (€114.50 - €112.92) x £1 per cent stake
Profit = €1.58 x £1 per cent stake
Profit = 158c x £1 per cent stake
Profit = £158 profit
Trading equities, by spread trading or otherwise, is not always straightforward. In this case, you wanted the share price to go up. However, the share price can also fall.
If the Muench Rueck share price had started to drop then you might decide to settle/close your position to limit your losses.
So if the market pulled back to €111.45 - €111.74 you would settle your spread bet by selling at €111.45. Therefore, you would make a loss of:
Loss = (Final Price - Initial Price) x stake
Loss = (€111.45 - €112.92) x £1 per cent stake
Loss = -€1.47 x £1 per cent stake
Loss = -147c x £1 per cent stake
Loss = -£147 loss
