The recent market volatility has sent shockwaves through the trading industry with many spread betting and CFD brokers suddenly raising their customer margin requirements to cover their own market positions.

However, GFT customers do not have to worry about increased margins. The company’s Spread Betting, CFD and spot forex margins will not be raised.

GFT’s equity margin rates remain at 10 percent for all of the U.S., U.K. and European equity markets the company offers and just 5 percent for top Australian equities.

That stands out in sharp contrast to the panicked brokers who have raised customer margins to anywhere from 25% to 50% and upwards, requiring customers to put up extra cash immediately or have their positions closed.

"As a company with access to a significant amount of liquidity, we will continue cover our customers’ positions," said a GFT spokesperson. "We are a company built on principles of trust and integrity, and will continue to provide our customers with the same level of consistency and reliability they expect from a worldwide leader in online trading."
