UK Share Trading
- FTSE 100 edged up 0.2% to settle at 5,478.8.
- Financial stocks, Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Lloyds Banking Group and Barclays, rallied between 4.2% and 7.9%, as Bank of England and UK Treasury planned to inject £180 billion into the UK economy.
- Precious metal stocks, Polymetal International and Fresnillo soared 7.3% and 5.5%, respectively, tracking higher gold and silver prices.
- Miners, Vedanta Resources, Evraz and ENRC rose between 5.5% and 6.3%, in line with a rise in base metal prices.
- Man Group climbed 5.3%, after Merrill Lynch restated a “Buy” advice on the stock.
- Aggreko fell 4.4%, after the company reported slower growth in all regions, especially North America.
- ARM Holdings lost 3.1%, following negative comments by Societe Generale on its competition and sales trends.
- Reckitt Benckiser declined 1.6%, following a report that showed the company had lost its market share in Europe in May.
