FTSEurofirst 300 index advanced 0.9% or 8.7 points to end at 1,034.4.
DJIA edged up 0.5% to close at 12,482.1. NASDAQ climbed 0.6% to end at 2,728.1. S&P 500 inched 0.4% higher to settle at 1,293.7.
Nikkei 225 index is trading 1.1% higher, at 8,563.4.
In Asia, crude oil for February delivery is trading 0.7% or $0.68 higher at $101.39 per barrel.
At 0400 BST today, the GBP is trading 0.1% higher against the USD at $1.5356, 0.2% lower against the EUR at €1.2014, and 0.1% lower against the JPY at ¥117.77.
