Market Summary

At 0500 BST today, FTSE 100 futures are trading 1.2 points lower.
At 0500 BST today, German DAX Xetra 30 futures are trading 0.5 points lower, while French CAC-40 futures are trading 1.4 points higher.
At 0500 BST today, DJIA futures are trading 1.0 point higher.
Nikkei 225 is trading 1.2% higher, at 15,560.0.
In Asia, crude oil for July delivery is trading 0.5% or $0.49 lower at $95.69 per barrel.
At 0400 BST today, the GBP is trading marginally lower against the USD at $1.5157, 0.1% down against the EUR at €1.1727, and 0.1% higher against the JPY at ¥155.37.

Macro Economic Review

[05:00am update] The Bank of Japan stood pat on its monetary policy, while suggesting a pickup in the nation's economy.

UK annual inflation rate weakened more-than-expected to 2.4% in April from 2.8% in March.

UK's Producer Input Price Index declined 0.1% YoY in April from a revised 0.8% increase last month, while Producer Output Price Index gained 1.1% YoY in April, compared to 1.9% increase in March.

UK Retail Price Index increased 0.3% MoM in April, compared to a 0.4% rise recorded in the previous month.

UK House Price Index rose 2.7% YoY in March, higher than a 1.9% gain reported in February.

German Producer Price Index slipped more-than-expected 0.2% MoM in April, the same rate of decrease as seen in March.

Japan's merchandise trade deficit widened to ¥879.936 billion in April, following the revised deficit of ¥364.0 billion in March.
