- Nikkei 225 is trading 0.1% lower, at 15,019.55.
- In Asia, crude oil for June delivery is trading 0.2% or $0.16 lower at $95.00 per barrel.
- At 0400 BST today, the GBP is trading 0.2% lower against the USD at $1.5248, slightly lower against the EUR at €1.1855, and 0.1% down against the JPY at ¥155.92.

Macro Economic Review

US initial jobless claims rose more-than-expected by 32,000 to a reading of to 360,000 during the week ended 11 May.
US housing starts slumped more-than-anticipated 16.5% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 853,000 units in April from March.
US annual inflation rate reflected the slowest pace of growth since November of 2010 and stood at 1.1% in April, down from 1.5% in March.
China Conference Board Leading Index climbed 1.5% in April, compared to a 0.6% decline reported in March.
Japanese core machine orders surged more-than-expected 14.2% MoM in March on a seasonally adjusted basis, following the downwardly revised 4.2% increase in February.
