Mining Companies Lead the FTSE Higher: Index Spread Betting
Financial Market Comments from Anthony Grech, Market Analyst, IG Index.
In mid-morning trading shares have made a strong start.
After the Dubai-driven excitement recently, things seem like they are settling back into a routine on the London Stock Exchange as a strong start by mining companies has lead the FTSE higher.
The manufacturing figures out of China, that suggests growth at its fastest rate in five years, has been the catalyst here.
This has lifted the market back to where it was on Thursday morning when the LSE suffered its technical glitch. It has also erased a significant chunk of the losses incurred following the worries about the Dubai debt situation.
US markets look set to open in a similarly strong fashion. At the moment we are expecting the Dow Jones index to start off around 80 points higher than last night’s close.
With markets once again having apparently succeeded in shaking off the latest shocks, investors seem to have found another fresh bout of confidence.
It would not be a surprise for stock markets to achieve fresh recovery highs as this month goes on.
Good Luck!
