24 Hour Trading for the UK Election

Financial Spreads, the London based spread betting firm, is now letting investors trade 24 hours a day.
As the UK election unfolds users will be able to trade key financial markets such as the FTSE 100 and Sterling/Dollar exchange rate throughout the night.
Election nights typically run into the small hours and investors will now be able to take advantage of overnight price movements.
“The Financial Spreads dealing desk is now open 24 hours a day, Sunday to Friday. Whilst we offer more than 2000 markets we are also trading over 50 of the most popular markets throughout the night. As the swing seats are settled retail investors will be able to trade in and out of their positions,” said Adam Jepsen, spokesman for Financial Spreads.
The financial markets have just experienced a highly volatile week with 2 year Greek debt downgraded to Junk status and the FTSE 100 and Dow seeing some large swings. The outcome of the UK election should also keep traders on their toes.
“As the Liberal Democrats have become more popular during the election campaign we have seen Sterling weaken. The markets would prefer a Conservative win.
“When the election results come in, clients will be able to speculate on a range of markets to go up or down. If the result points towards a hung parliament then clients might take a defensive position and sell the FTSE 100. If it looks like the Conservative Party will win an outright majority then clients have the opportunity the buy the Sterling/Dollar market,” concluded Jepsen.
