Indices Technical Analysis

Dow Jones Index Technical Analysis

The Dow Jones futures market closed lower on Tuesday and the mid-range close sets the stage for a steady opening on Wednesday as the door is open for a test of the previous reaction low crossing possibly on Wednesday. Closes above the 20 day moving average crossing would temper the near-term bearish outlook. Stochastics and the RSI are turning bearish signalling that sideways-to-lower prices are possible near-term.

S&P 500 Index Technical Analysis

The S&P 500 futures market closed sharply lower on Tuesday and the mid-range close sets the stage for a steady opening when Wednesday's session begins trading. Stochastics and the RSI have turned bearish signalling that sideways-to-lower prices are possible near-term. If it extends the decline off last week's high, the reaction low crossing is the next downside target. Closes above the 10 day moving average crossing would confirm that a short-term low has been posted.

Nasdaq Index Technical Analysis

The Nasdaq futures market closed lower on Tuesday and the mid-range close sets the stage for a steady opening on Wednesday. Closes below the aforementioned uptrend line would confirm an end to the rally off June's low while opening the door for sideways-to-lower prices into the end of July. Stochastics and the RSI are turning bearish signalling that sideways-to-lower prices are possible near-term. If it renews the rally off June's low, the May 4th gap crossing is the next upside target.

Forex Technical Analysis

Euro / Dollar Technical Analysis

The EUR/USD closed lower on Tuesday amid increased concerns over Greece and Spain's debt crisis. The low-range close sets the stage for a steady-to-lower opening on Wednesday. Stochastics and the RSI remain bearish signalling that additional weakness is possible near-term. If it extends this year's decline, monthly support crossing is the next downside target. Closes above the 20 day moving average crossing would confirm that a low has been posted.

Dollar / Yen Technical Analysis

The USD/JPY closed lower on Tuesday and the low-range close sets the stage for a steady-to-lower opening when Wednesday's session begins trading. Stochastics and the RSI are remain neutral-to-bearish signalling that sideways-to-lower prices are possible near-term. If it extends this month's rally, June's low crossing is the next upside target. Closes above the 20 day moving average crossing would confirm that a short-term bottom has been posted.

Sterling / Dollar Technical Analysis

The GBP/USD closed lower on Tuesday and the mid-range close sets the stage for a steady opening when Wednesday's session begins trading. Stochastics and the RSI have turned bearish signalling that sideways-to-lower prices are possible near-term. If it extends the aforementioned decline, the reaction low crossing is the next downside target. If it renews the rally off July's low, June's high crossing is the next upside target.

Dollar / Swiss Franc Technical Analysis

The USD/CHF closed higher on Tuesday and the high-range close sets the stage for a steady-to-higher opening when Wednesday's session begins trading. Stochastics and the RSI are bullish signalling that sideways-to-higher prices are possible near-term. If it extends this year's rally, monthly support crossing is the next upside target. Closes below the 20 day moving average crossing at crossing are needed to confirm that a short-term high has been posted.
